For most graduates who are paying back student loans, the Inland Revenue takes payments directly from your employer each month. Apparently, however, the Inland Revenue doesn't pay this directly each month to the Student Loan Company, but waits until the end of the financial year in April and then pays the entire year's amount to the SLC.

The effect is that the Inland Revenue hold on to your monthly payments for up to a year, earning themselves interest. During the same period, because the SLC has not received these funds, they charge the graduate interest on the outstanding amount, even though it has been paid to the Inland Revenue.

Follow the link below to sign the petition to make the Inland Revenue pay the SLC each month:

Why should one balshy graffiti artist be celebrated and make a ton of money from his work and others be prosecuted? Who decided that he was amazing?

Stage names update

So a wee while ago I asked you for suggestions for a bellydance stage name for me, so far I have received:

Draconia
Arachne - (Greek weaving/knitting related)
Achatina - and variations thereof (snail related)
Elune - (goddess, elven moon type)
Hirsutia - (I think i'll put this one on the back-back-back-burner Footles)

Any more out there?

I'm trying not to go for something cheesey, and I thought recently that it may be an idea to incorporate my Polish middle name into it somehow (which is Kepinska).

*Edit - Funnily enough, 'Inska', which I liked means 'excuse me' in American Indian Lakota language, and 'fish' in Miskito.

Competition!

I need you guys to help me out -
I'm trying to come up with a bellydance stage-name and I want you guys to comment with suggestions! The best ones will be put to a poll and the winner can have something I've knitted for them (if they want) :)

Stage names in the general bellydancing circuit are usually arabic / egyptian influenced or sometimes a bit gothic and magical, but just fling anything at me! Think about what I'm interested in or something that sums me up well and is a bit unusual. 3-2-1 GO!

Good afternoon my lovely friends! Today is a special day, my last day working in Motherwell and also the day when I will expose you to one of the best and most underrated songwriting forces of the late eighties/early nineties.

Crowded House - Don't Dream It's Over.

It was very hard to pick just one of their songs as loads of them are amazing, however I think that this one is the most beautiful and timeless. Of course if you have a moment I'd definitely look out some of the other videos if you have never listened to them before.

Also, as reported yesterday the band are talking about reforming for a world tour!

There will be no EMVOTD tomorrow as i will be in Creiff eating haggis and drinking a lot, so ciao for now!
